Fairfax County projects win 9 NAIOP Northern Virginia Awards
Fairfax County commercial real estate construction projects won 9 NAIOP Northern Virginia awards, including for three buildings and four interiors. Two real estate transactions were also honored with awards. With the theme of “Focus on Excellence,” the 2020 Best of NAIOP Northern Virginia Awards, held on Nov. 19, recognized and celebrated significant new contributions across Northern Virginia by the commercial, industrial and mixed-use real estate community. Twenty‐eight awards were presented to sites throughout the Northern Virginia region in the following categories: Interiors, Membership, Transactions and Buildings.
NAIOP Northern Virginia is a chapter of NAIOP, the Commercial Real Estate Development Association, and it comprises nearly 900 members serving the local Northern Virginia market. NAIOP is the leading organization for developers, owners and related professionals in office, industrial and mixed‐use real estate, with over 25,000 members in North America. NAIOP advances responsible commercial real estate development and advocates for effective public policy.
Fairfax County-based projects won the following awards:
Buildings
Bailey’s Shelter and Supportive Housing, located in Fairfax, received the “Build‐to‐Suit Institutional Award of Excellence.” NAIOP members on the team included: Forrester Construction Company and Urban, Ltd.
1676 Redefined, located in Tysons, received the “Capital Improvement Non‐Institutional Award of Excellence.” NAIOP members on the team included: Perkins & Will, Balfour Beatty Construction, rand*construction corporation, Pennoni, JLL, and Price Modern.
The Boro, located in Tysons, received the “Multi‐Family Residential Award of Excellence.” NAIOP members on the team included: The Meridian Group and VIKA.
Interiors
Microsoft Azure Northern Virginia, located in Reston, received an “Award of Excellence for Tenant Space, 10‐40,000 square feet.” NAIOP members on the team included: HITT Contracting and JLL.
Inova Mather Proton Therapy Center, located in Merrifield, received an “Award of Excellence for Tenant Space, 40‐100,000 square feet.” NAIOP members on the team included: INOVA Health System and Clark Construction Group.
Appian Headquarters, located in Tysons, received an “Award of Excellence for Tenant Space, over 100,000 square feet.” NAIOP members on the team included: Callison RTKL, WFT Engineering, and Cushman & Wakefield.
Leidos Global Headquarters, located in Reston, received an “Award of Excellence for Tenant Space, over 100,000 square feet.” NAIOP members on the team included: Gensler, HITT Contracting, and JLL.
Real Estate Transactions
KPMG at Boro Tower, located in Tysons, received an “Award of Excellence for Leases.” NAIOP members on the team included: Gensler and CBRE.
1902 Reston Metro Plaza, located in Reston, received an “Award of Excellence for Leases.” NAIOP members on the team included: HKS, Davis Construction and JLL.
